There are a couple of cool families here. In particular the Winfreys and the Greenups. Brother Winfrey is the ward mission leader and Sister Winfrey and I are distant cousins. She lived in Ely until like the 3rd grade I think? Apparently she was best buds with Aunt Amanda then she freaked out and said we were related. Haha it was funny. Her maiden name is Hansen and don't know her first name.
The Greenups are just down to earth people. Brother Greenup likes to scare the new missionaries. So we walked in and he was super cool to Macpherson but to me he'd just swear and stuff. I found it funny and couldn't stop laughing. And then his kid came in doing the exact same thing swearing and all. I think that was one of the best nights I've had yet out here. Just a 40 yr old and a 6 yr old cussing me out. He's super funny, he makes fun of Elko but he's from a place equally as boring. Needless to say we get along just fine.
Yeah we drive everywhere. It's bigger than our last area but not the biggest. We are the closest ones to the Mission Office in Broomfield. It's a fun area though. Hopefully Elder Macpherson and I are here for a while. Well at least for one transfer after this one. Yes our Mission is super small. And I can't remember, we are in the Reno Mission right? not like Reno South or something of that sort? There's a guy here who served in the Las Vegas West before everything changed. He served in Winnemucca and the Tahoe area. I keep thinking back to where I would've hated serving in Nevada. But I think it would be kind of nice thinking about it now. I'm familiar with that area and it would've been fun. Oh well, I guess there's something I need to do more here in Colorado rather than Nevada. Yes we have some Sisters in our District. One Sister Dennis is from Winnemucca. Her younger brother actually played against us in basketball. Stirling #10 if you remember that. And her companion, Sister McKelleb is from St. George. She went to Desert Hills and knows some of my friends. It's a small world for sure. The run down for this week. So Last Monday we went and played basketball for a while and that was fun.
Tuesday was like any other day. We had a few appointments we hit. There's this Israeli guy who's name is Abba. We got a random call from him and was like "Hello, do the brothers know how to work computers?" And I do so we went over to help him. It was so funny because he owns this Interior architecture company and got an email. He knew how to open the email on his phone but needed help pulling up a pdf on his computer. Then he need help reading all these blueprints he had because he's not good at English. We helped him and he was having a super hard time with it because he kept trying to read the words backwards because he speaks Arabic. He's a funny man. Then we met with the George family. Less activeish family. Brother Winfrey came with us and laid down the law with them. He offered to get the mom a better job if she started having faith and going to church and paying her tithing. That was an intense lesson.
Wednesday we had a lesson with Brother Booth. That guy is a character. He can't like hear at all. We have to yell so loud I'm sure we could count the neighbors as being in on the lesson. We had a lesson with an Investigator Elizabeth. Talking about the Plan of Salvation then her husband came home. He stopped us and said "Look guys, I want you to understand something" I looked at my companion expecting some rant from him. He told us that he wants to listen as well but don't expect him to get baptized. We were like sure no problem with a sigh of relief.
Thursday we had District Meeting. I had to do a role play but time was way over and going into my lunch time so I did like a 2 minute role play. Told them to work on extending commitments and I would follow up next district meeting. Haha. I was so hungry and kind of peeved that we were going way over. Thursday is when we met with the Greenup family I was telling you about. He's Denver's number fan, or the Bronco's number one fan. His truck is blue with orange flames. Flames on the tires. He has the number 1 and 2 seats form the original Mile High stadium bolted into his truck. hahaha. He's funny.
Friday we had Weekly planning and the fun stuff. Had an appointment with the Mandler family. They're just less active people and they're super funny. Tell- you- how- it- is kind of people.
Saturday was pretty busy. Lots of appointments. One with the Zeman family again. Found out this time that Brother Zeman use to be a professional Ice Racecar driver. Raced in the Pikes peak event I think. That's really cool. Then Yesterday regular stuff happened. Meetings, Church, more meetings. Woohoo! Today we plan on going to an indoor archery range. Hopefully that will be worth it...
