Monday night we Visited brother Rector. He's the one that has a hard time with organized religion because he believes there's too many people that use it as a crutch to not be good. Like pretty much the Zoramites or something. He says that too many people don't bear the Christian name properly. Not sure if I told you that or not. But he did say that he's willing to have us over anytime and will make lunch for us whenever we want since he works from home. So that's cool. After that we just did some language study where Elder Sato just reads from the scriptures and I try not to fall asleep after a good long day.
Tuesday we went to Goodwill (basically Deseret Industries or F.I.S.H.) and just helped out there. My job was to throw junk into the semi-trailer and make as much of it fit as possible. They were surprised at how well I stacked it all (just really good aim at throwing) and they said we should come more often haha. Nah... once a week is enough for me though. Something about touching other people's furniture and clothes and stuff turns me off. Then we got some haircuts and we met a guy who came up to us and came to me and said, "I know that you are laughing at me being old and using a cane but shake my hand.." then he proceeded to crush the life out of my hand. Holy smokes guy I didn't even notice you walking in... then he said that everyone told him he was too dumb to go to college so instead of listening he got 9 PhD's... and like 7 Masters... and also told us not to go to college and major in something we enjoy rather major in something that will get us a career. Good life lessons there. Went home and had lunch. Then we went out for the day didn't meet with anyone though. We did try by a family that was a Do not contact just for fun. Usually that's like the most unwise thing to do but something told us to go by and now we have dinner with them every week for the next 3 or so... Brother Souza is from Brazil! Sau Paulo or however you spell that. We had dinner with Bishop and his family. They are super cool. After that we saw Terri who doesn't come to church because of her son who has autism and other things. She says though that he is calming down with the new medication and perhaps she'll be able to go here soon. The hiccup though is that the medicine isn't approved for children... ayyy.
Wednesday was pretty much straight tracting all day long. A few people told us to come back next week so that's promising. Well that would be this week. Hopefully things pan out there... We had dinner with Danny. That was an interesting dinner. We got to the door and knocked but he didn't answer. We knocked again but no answer.... again. So Elder Sato just walks in!!! Sorry dude I don't know how they do it in Japan is what I said but you can't walk into other people's houses here. Then he showed me a text saying to walk in if he wasn't there. Ayyyy. He got me on that one. So we just sat in his apartment until he came and made some meatball subs. It was pretty good. We also went by the Samora family who we define as Eternigators. Basically someone who has met with missionaries for years on end but won't change anything haha. I think she just takes advantage of the missionaries service wise. That night we met with Sister Woods the craft lady. I'm pretty sure she thinks she is active or something.... they signed up to have us over for dinner next week though.
Thursday we had zone meeting where I gave a fire lesson on Charity. Watched the bible video and everything. I felt like a true missionary now that I actually knew what I was talking about and stuff. Afterwards we went by some people and set up some appointments hopefully that will happen within the next few days. Had dinner with the Leon family who are converts of about 8 years and are from Brazil as well I think. Then we went on splits and shared the new ward mission plan for this year with some members. It was a good time. Also weird trying to teach someone with a companion that doesn't really know how to teach all that well.
Friday after planning we went to the Samora's to provide the service that I was talking about earlier. I don't think we'll be back anytime soon to do that. She's got like 4 able bodied kids and we were out there raking some leaves.... But she did make us some lunch. Elder Sato wasn't a fan of Chicken Fajitas but I thought they were pretty good. not much anything exciting happened the rest of the day.
Saturday we tried to go by julie again but she was just leaving right when we pulled up... ayy. So next week it is... again.... Then we went back home and ate lunch. after that we went by some people. One person yelled at us to never come back. Couldn't understand why. something about other missionaries in her last house haha I'm not sure. Set up some more appointments with a couple of people. after that we went back near home for dinner and then after that we went by Reyna. She had to work early in the morning though so we made it quick so that she could get to bed. After that we went by the Smith family and Michael and Shane were slammed... sooo drunk. Hahahaha it was so funny. And with my newly acquired talk to drunk people skills Elder Sato and shared a scripture that said to BE SOBER. They got a kick out of it. Then they started singing I Am A Child of God very loudly....
Sunday was a regular day. We didn't get to do much because of the snow and stuff. We had dinner with the Souza family though which was awesome. They were gonna make some Brazilian food but changed it and now I can't even remember what we had but I know that it was good!
And yesterday was a bit odd. They tried to shorten p-day two hours because we were emailing today so it's not wasting time or something. But then they banned all driving because of the snow for two hours so they extended p-day back to normal time and we just played some dodgeball until dinner. Then we had dinner and went home because I felt like straight trash. Not sure why... wasn't food poisoning because I'm fine now. But it was a long hour at dinner time.
