Monday last week we played some Wiffle ball! It was so much fun. Brought me back to my youth days of baseball! We talked with Brother Rector that night about prophets. He can't believe in a prophet but he can't. I've never met someone who is agnostic... towards prophets? That was a good chat with him though
Tuesday we went to goodwill and let me tell ya. That's the most fun I've had in a long long time. My job was to gather all the products starting with glassware with a green tag. Then I had to chuck them into the compactor. It was 3 hours straight of taking all these cups and plates and stuff and shattering them in the compactor. I felt like a 5 year old having so much fun breaking things. Afterwards we went tracting. It started snowing soooo hard too. Then we knocked on 3 members doors in a row. That's the most awkward thing because we go into our shpeel and they are like uh.. we are members. We said hi to you on Sunday.... SORRY! There's like 230 of you that come to church! haha. We had some pizza for dinner that night.
Wednesday we did some myPlan things at the library. Then we went and tried Linda who we found the week before but she wasn't home. So hopefully we can talk to her again. As we were tracting we met a super duper nice guy that opened the door and was like, OH hey!!! Come on in! Which immediately we are thinking he's a member but the next thing he says he is not LDS. Gave us some water and we talked with him. He is baptist and hardcore never going to join he told us. As we were talking at his table he kept on saying, "Yeah, I just thought that I'd let you in for a few minutes" like always reminding us we aren't there forever. So he eventually kicked us out after 10 minutes. We had pizza again for dinner but then we taught them the first lesson afterwards. The husband is pretty much what you would call Anit-Mormon but he claims he is a truth seeker. She wants the lessons to build up her faith. It was a good lesson though.
Thursday we had district meeting where I called on two random people to give trainings about using time wisely because no one was following the district plan the previous weeks but they started doing them after that. Tracted some more. We talked to another really nice guy who has already read the Book of Mormon. He likes those churches with a rock band type of thing and that kind of took me by surprise. He is really old of a person... Hmm. They say if you grow up you give up. That night we had some Chicken pot pie and scrambled eggs with bacon for dinner. Then lemon cake for dessert. That was successful I would say. Then we did some splits except for no one showed up again. It was really awkward too because there was a dance thing going on at the church and that doesn't look good for two missionaries to be chillin' at the church waiting for people while there is a dance going on... Can't win in that situation.
Friday we did some good weekly planning. Tracting was interesting that day. One lady opened the door immediately saying, "I pray you leave the mormon church." I asked her why and she said, "Because I just want you to believe in the real Jesus" So I again asked her what the difference is. "Oh we believe he is the son of god!" Uhm so do we lady... but then she got upset about believing that he is Satan's brother or something along those lines. Then a couple of doors later I got into an argument with a guy. We knocked on his door... no answer. Knocked again.... no answer. So we went on to the next house but heard his door open. So I ran back up to his porch and he said, "First thing, I'm an old crippled man as you can obviously tell that I have to get off oxygen to come all the way up here to answer the door. I don't know why you would make me do that", "Second thing, this is no soliciting. Do you know what that means?"
"why yes, that means no selling"
"exactly, which you are selling the lord to me who I already know for years, but besides the biggest thing is you are bothering me. Now don't go around bothering me because it makes me really mad"
"Why don't you get a sign that says don't bother me then?"
"Oh fine you go make one adn I'll put it up"
"You got it boss"
What a cranky guy. It was a lot more ridiculous than it sounds I promise.
Then we went on exchanges with the zone leaders
Saturday made me so mad. So I went to Castle Rock because the YSA ward covers out there. I kid you not... the first door we knocked she said to please come back because she is interested. I quoted that by the way.... word for word this is what that lady said. Then the next door the guy was like I'm about to leave but if you want to come back I'd be more than happy to listen to you guys. And that's how it went... the. whole. entire. day. We taught one of their investigator named Pravs. She's from India and super awesome. She bought so many snacks for the lesson as well and made us take them all home so she won't get fat by eating them all. We had ribs for dinner and the members even invited some non-members. Like everything is greener on the otherside of the fence or what??????
Sunday was a bust. It was soooo windy it definitely made me stay inside. It was so ridiculous that I couldn't even hear Elder Christensen talking to me as we walked to and from dinner.
