You have no idea how cold this week was
But it wasn't really all too bad... you guessed it. I may have taken the
the long way around. Don't tell my companion though haha. He still doesn't know his way around yet.
Yeah it seems that everyone we talk to either has heard about Mormons, has friends that are Mormon or already talked to missionaries. It's not that often that we are like hey have you heard of mormons and they are like who???? It's a pleasant surprise I would say.The most Crazy I've gotten from people is how many wives do you have. "uh, zero." Sorry man but I'm only 19 years old. People are usually pretty cool. The ones out to hurt just say weird things like Hail Satan or something Cause that's smart right? We went and taught a world Religions class this week at the high school so that is where we got the most crazy questions. But before that I will explain how Tuesday was!
We went out in the morning to try by a person we had a lesson with. But they weren't there surprise surprise! So we went tracting and this guy opened the door and was like, "Oh! You aren't the Qwest guy!" And he let us in anyway! He was super cool but wasn't interested in anything. It was good to talk to just a normal guy who understood life and stuff though. Don't get that much around these parts I'm starting to notice. We also Saw Mike who says he thinks he has solved his bug problem and has a house inspection in the next few days. I hope he passes..... We had dinner with Sister Buckwalter at this place called Tag Burger. It was pretty stinkin' good. The classic all American Bacon Cheeseburger with bbq and ranch! Then we had a lesson with Renee who we dropped cause she just likes talking a lot. I think that's like my first official drop of the mission. She was just getting on my nerves about not doing anything and stuff.
Wednesday... Here's the good stuff. That is when we taught the classes at East High School. It was fun, I enjoyed it. We were there with Bishop Matthews and the Sister Missionaries. I don't think they liked it as much as I did. I could finally make jokes that other people laughed at because they aren't so robotic being on the mission and all. The first class was pretty chill. They started the first 30 mins with legit questions. Like why are you mormon? Why a mission? All that stuff but then someone broke the peacefulness asking about the Book of Mormon and that if they were Indians. And then all heck broke loose. That led to someone saying Jesus coming and that there was wars going on and they thought we said all of them were wicked which means we think all Native Americans are wicked. Then somehow Bishop brought up Heavenly Mother and yikes. Lots of arguing and stuff. It was exhilarating. Then a kid was like why were they wicked? Sister York then said because they were prideful and spitting on the poor. So now these kids think that Mormons hate all Native Americans and that it's a sin to be rich... ayyy what a mess.
The Second Class was even better though. Very first question was.. "So you believe that we will get a planet?" Well everything that was semi false Bishop got straight hurt about and would get all offensive and be like, "is that too hard to believe? We want to be like god..." and all this. Then they asked about the big bang and Bishop was without even answering got up and was like "Is it too hard to understand that maybe the big bang and God can go together?" Like, bro chill out she asked if we believe in it or not.... Lots of questions about Garments, Polygamy and the after life. Most of which we were like we have no idea. The best was when they asked if we believe God was somewhere physical in the universe. I had no idea so Bishop was like yes we do believe he is somewhere but we don't know where. Then one of the kids started going crazy like then How come we don't just go find him and Nuke him or something and appoint our own judge for heaven and hell... sorry kid. Doesn't work like that but good try. Pretty sure the whole class was laughing at him. We got some good laughs good questions and all around I loved it! Maybe if I stick around in this area long enough I can do it again next Semester!
Then we went and visited Joyce again in the Hospital who was since the last time we visited diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. Poor lady, so we went and chatted with her for an hour. Had dinner with the St. John's again. They are still all boys... hahaha.
Thursday was less exciting. We had zone meeting which made me upset a little but I won't go into details. It only went an hour over too-- step up from two. I think they should literally just start saying that it's going to be 4 hours instead of 3. If they wouldn't spend so much time on going over rules and stuff ayyyy..... That was all we did that day. Everything else was just nothing special. Oh well we marched around in the cold for like 3 hours. And went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner! Never been there but it's pretty good!
Friday we had planning. Then we saw my man Daniel N. again. Just the same old same old. Well actually Bonanza wasn't running this time on his TV. We shared with him the LightTheWorld and told him to give a card to his PCP. I sure hope he does it haha. That'd be awesome. Then we gave the Sacrament to the usuals. Georgina went off on a tangent about her not getting money and that her sewer line is broken. I can't stand that household. Don't know if I told you about RIck or Glenn yet but dang. Those guys need to go get a real life outside.... or go back to being homeless. Then we tried stopping by David because it was his birthday but he was not a happy camper that we stopped by uninvited... yikes. So we won't see him for awhile haha.
Saturday we were on exchanges so I went to the Bible Park ward. That was fun. I got to finally teach some normal sane people that have their lives together and are actually interested in the Gospel! Then we went to their ward Christmas party which was awkward for me because I didn't know anyone and as soon as I told them I was only there for the day no one wanted to talk to me. But hey the dinner was super good. And the dessert was even better!
Sunday we did the norm, church and all. Then we went and saw Martin! He's doing good! We taught some of the plan of salvation. He was super interested and stuff. Can't wait to go back for some more! Thne we made our way to Richard. ugh that guy makes me mad. Thinks he knows everything! But he contradicts himself so much! Talking about Jesus and that He wasn't normal but then goes on to say He grew up a normal life. Like what? Then we saw Donald. He's fun to teach because he takes everything he reads so deep. Like Alma 32 he was like WOAH this and this and this and this. Slow down bud. But he's hardcore Catholic and says he will never change. Oh well.
I love you! and as Donald Trump says, Merry Christmas!
