I love the Light the World! It's so easy to share with people because only the worst of the worst will tell you to get lost if you talk about light... hahaha.
Oh boy what a packed week. Let's see... Wednesday we went and were trying by names on the thousand we have on the ward list. Met this lady named Debrah and she said she comes to church every week... but we haven't seen her at all!! She was super nice though. Didn't see her on Sunday so she must be crazy. We were able to see Richard and his parrot again. Trying to get that man to come to church! Just is so unmotivated. We then saw his neighbor Donald. He is hardcore Catholic and believes that all churches have the priesthood and that there are like 6 different types of priesthood. But he's super nice and said we can come back. Also we are getting him a new copy of the Testaments movie because his tripped out and won't work I guess. Also saw another guy in the same apartment building named Mark. He can't go to church because of health problems but is probably the most sane and active member I've met in this ward. He likes RC cars too which my companion loves as well. They clicked of course. Met a lady tracting named Laura who said we could come back after the holidays. Doesn't believe in Christ but does believe in God.
Thursday was Thanksgiving!! We started with a zone meeting to talk about the new Light The World initiative. Good video and good message. I like the advent calendar thing too! We had lunch with Chuck and the sister missionaries at his house. He had his son there and a few friends. His fiance as well was there. Then we went to the Blackham's house. But story behind this. We called them on Wednesday and asked if we were still good and they were like well... we weren't planning on having you come over but we can order in a pizza or something. So yeah we were like oh man.... but we got there and they brought home a Thanksgiving dinner from the place they went to with the family. It was pretty good. Then we asked what kind of pizza they like and they were like Dominoes is the best. Heck yeah!!! Good to know that millionaires will choose Domino's over anything. It was pretty laid back too so I enjoyed that.
Friday was good. We had to go get our flu shots though. So there went like the whole day trying to get there and back to the place where they were giving them. We were able to meet with Daniel N. Still watching Bonanza while smoking weed and drinking diet cola though. Nothing has changed and prolly will never change with that man. Then we met with another Daniel R. He is still drunk but he wants to change so we will see what we can motivate him to do. Then we had dinner with a guy who I will leave unnamed because it was just weird. He is a cousin to the Osmonds so he brought out his guitar and sang to us convinced that singing is in the family... well it's not. So it was just 30 mins of him singing "Sweet Home Orem, Utah" while chewing on uncooked raw chicken and cold noodles. If that flu shot don't get me sick then for sure I'm getting food poisoning tomorrow. That combined with my milk that came with a warning that it contains lysteria, it's just not gonna be good. But I'm fine so we are good.
Saturday we went and got some haircuts through a referral from that same dinner guy so I was a little skeptical. But it was nice and the guy was nice. Probably going to go back some day. Then we were walking around downtown and there were so many loud cars!!! Like the noise was bouncin' off all the walls and so many cars racing. Saw two '69 camaro's race and that was heavenly. (or a sin if it's like coveting) We did have a lesson with Rachel but we took forever getting there watching all the cars and stuff we were late and she didn't answer. oops. Then we went home to do weekly planning. Had dinner at Old chicago that night. CU was playing UofU that day so the member we were with was torn... haha. Then when Utah would do something good he would cheer and everyone would look at him and say what??? We are mormons! That was funny. Everyone loved us after that!
Sunday was super duper crazy! Full of missing buses and walking and funny yelling people. Sunday school was a bit awkward because Antonio and another member got into an argument about praying about the scriptures. Antonio says it's not biblical to pray to understand them because he's like you got to read it to understand not just pray but the member was like no you have to pray! And it was a mess and just dumb. Then we met with a guy named Marteen. He's from mexico and is super tight. He's trying to find a new job because he doesn't want ot landscape in the cold. Don't blame him. I don't even wanna walk in the cold. Then we gave a blessing to one of the Sisters' investigators. Missed our bus so we had ot go wayyy out of our way to catch another one to go see Mike. Haven't seen that man in a longggg time! It was good to see him. He still has his bed bug problem though so we made it quick. Then we went and Saw Donald and Richard again. We committed Donald to read the Book of Mormon out loud to Richard so we could kill two birds with one stone.
Oh also about the funny guy yelling. He sounded exactly like Chris Farley. No joke and he parked kind of in the road because he was going into the house to grab something and his neighbor came out and said he can't park like that and he's calling the towing company and just like that on the dime the Chris Farley guy flipped and started cussing and saying, "I'm going into the house for one minute!!!" but Chris Farley style. Made my day. There were cuss words in there though.
Chris
